RESEARCH
Human-Centered Storytelling and Emerging Markets Research
Case Study: Facebook
Produced a series of human-interest stories and brand marketing documentaries focused on the user experience of a Facebook product. Working as the country lead for a remote US-based team, UX research involved the coordination of production days and travel across Ghana, sourcing and verifying leads, conducting interviews, ethnographic observation, immersive field studies, and sharing insightful feedback. A mixed-methods, yet primarily qualitative approach was used for this project. Click Here for video content.
Case Study: Cuba
Conducted a 10-day field trip to document and gather research about the impact of the US embargo and Foreign Policy towards Cuba. At the time of this study, Cuban’s didn’t have public access to Wifi, and access to private internet use was scarce and highlight regulated. Primary and Secondary research methods were used to produce this report, achieving a first-class in foreign policy for my Masters.
Case Study: India
Traveled to gather primary research, conduct interviews, and engage programme partners to observe and report on the local context for students in Mumbai as an international liaison officer for a UK university.
Case Study: Ghana
Used a human-centered research approach including interviews, field research, and analysis to produce this feature article: Ghanas Entrepreneurs Adapt to Survive
Case Study: Ethiopia
Produced informative and engaging social media content around the UN Sustainable Development Goals for an annual United Nations ECA leadership summit in Ethiopia - which focused on Africa’s digital revolution. This involved leading project teams in London and Addis to brainstorm, design, research and translate data into compelling infographics, editing content around themed side events, curating questions, and interviewing key speakers such as Elsie Kanza, senior director at WEF, the former head of the African Development Bank - Donald Kaberuka and former head of UNECA - Carlos dos Santos.
Case Study: China Africa Relations
Through the lens of the international political economy, infrastructure development, and the demand for natural resources; my dissertation on China-Africa relations examined the influence China gains from its investments and foreign policy, alongside the lasting legacy on the African continent. Secondary research methods were used for this study.
Next Steps: Designing For The Next Billion
Throughout the pandemic, we’ve seen how crucial and adaptable internet access has been to everyday life during the lockdown. From WhatsApp teachers in Lebanon to virtual Peloton classes from LA. I’m currently focused on improving the interaction, access, training, and experiences people have with digital products - especially ‘the next billion users in Asia, Latin America, and Africa through UX research.
